NECA 18" Pacific Rim Cherno Alpha

When NECA produced the 18" Pacific Rim Gipsy Danger, I was over the moon but I knew it was almost impossible that they will produced any more Jaegers in this scale.
NECA has proven me wrong and I love it.
They have gone ahead to produce one of my favorite Jaegers, Cherno Alpha.
Will they continue to produce more Jaegers in this scale?
I hope they continue to prove me wrong as I would love to have the Eureka Striker and Crimson Typhoon along side my Gipsy Danger and Cherno Alpha.
For now I am deeply satisfied.

Cherno Alpha (Черно Альфа Cherniy Alfa) is a Mark-1 Russian Jaeger.
Piloted by husband and wife duo Sasha and Aleksis Kaidonovsky, Cherno Alpha is the last of the Mark-1 Jaeger series and the oldest Jaeger still active in combat.

The packaging is the same as what we got for Gipsy Danger.
It is attractive and the design represents the movie well.
You can see Cherno Alpha clearly through the window.
However the same problem for Gipsy Danger still exists for Cherno Alpha - too many twistees!
These twistees are really irritating as they are very difficult to untangle.
In the end I just cut them.
We also get a cool backdrop along with the figure.
A nice addition.

You either love or hate the design of Cherno Alpha.
Cherno Alpha is not your typical looking Jaeger.
The main difference is that it has an oversized "bucket" shaped head.
It is exactly why I love the design so much...haha

I like the sculpt for this figure.
The weathering and battle damaged effect is also done very well.
If company like ThreeA (have you seen their Titanfall) was to produce this, it will most likely blow NECA's version out of the water. But it will come at a high price.
I think for this price, it is value for money.

There are also many details which really enhance this figure.
Really good job on the sculpting and painting.

There are 2 areas for the light up effect.
One on the head and the other on the chest.
Cherno's head can be taken out and the batteries are placed under it.
The on button is smartly disguised as one of the circular fans on top of its head.

The batteries which power the chest lights are placed at the back.
As you can see from the picture, the screw which holds the battery door is pretty damaged.
Not sure if this is a QC thing or it is just my figure.
Almost impossible to check it at the store as this is at the back and all the twistees firmly hold the figure to the packaging.

Cherno Alpha all light up.

Articulation for this figure is also pretty good.
Despite its big head, the figure is sturdy and can hold most poses without topping over.
With that many joints, Cherno Alpha can hold some dynamic poses.

Overall, this is a must have to add to my collection.
It looks great when displayed with Gipsy Danger.
Come on NECA give me Eureka Striker and Crimson Typhoon.

Indeed an upscale detail for Cherno. I got the 7 inch and yet to get the 18 inch. Great addition!
